Sunday Morning, BackYard

Suffice to say (why do I say that and “For the record” so much?), I’m the only one at the domain that wakes up naturally at a early time in the morning.

By early, I mean early enough to piss off a neighbor or two if I choose to mow the lawn right after I’ve stolen their newspaper.

Typically when this happens on weekend mornings, I’ll sit and read while responding to Hope and her desire to have her butt scratched.

This morning, I chose to sit out in the backyard. It’s more like a backyard starter kit in the sense that I have an area confined by fences which is resplendent with old bicycles, a pitching trainer, remnants of grass, and a plethora of poop.

We have a nice lawn furniture set on the patio, so I typically plant my butt there and enjoy the morning air before the heat and humidity rear their ugly heads.

As I sit here this morning fending off pleas for attention from the hand whore while reading a monkeys / typewriters / Shakespeare gag in my electronic version of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, a bird landed here in the yard to forage for what I can only guess was vittles or construction materials.

As it wandered around the yard, Hope took notice of it. At any moment I expected her to lunge at what could have turned into something a little more palatable than what she would get in her food dish later.

Faith definitely would have seen the exciting menu opportunities in the visitor and would have gone for it.

Hope, not so much.

She watched the bird walk around and then fly away. I managed to get a picture of it as it flew away. As I reviewed the pic, I wonder if the purveyors of traditional photography really appreciate the fact that I’ve captured nature in action with a novelty item like a camera mounted in a cell phone.

I’m sure Ansel Adams would be proud. Why, I don’t know. He was the only photographer besides Anne Geddes that I could think of. Since there are no babies dressed up like produce in the yard, I opted to go with Adams.

Sadly I haven’t taken any steps to fix the site yet. The laundry list of goodies I picked up at the Home Depot yesterday has kept me busy and away from the laptop. Perhaps a little later after the new wears off of my e-reader.
