“You can’t have everything.  Where would you put it?”

Steven Wright said that sometime in the 80’s.  I have the cassette.

All things being equal, I’ve just about come to the inevitable conclusion that I’m a borderline hoarder with an unfulfilled desire for minimalism.

Granted, it’s a thick boarder.  Having seen any number of documentaries about those afflicted with the hoarding condition, I can unequivocally (you should have seen the first way I spelled that) testify that whatever ailment I have fails in comparison.

It’s probably nowhere close to being characterized as an ailment though.

If I were to describe it, I would have to say it’s the feeling you feel when you’re on the horns of an enema and riddled with doubt over a really big decision.

That’s what I feel when I’m trying to determine if I should throw away that 20 year old day planner that I haven’t picked up in years.

That’s what I feel when I see that plastic case of 3.5″ disks which needs to be dispensed to the trash since I have no drives for that medium.

That’s what I feel when I go through that stack of unopened mail which piles up on my desk, in a cabinet, on the bar, and in a storage bin or two.

That’s how I feel when I run across clothes that should be destined for donation to more charitable causes than my own.

The problem is that I’ve been talking about banishing all of that stuff and more from the domain for years.

Yet still, it hasn’t happened.

Yet.
