Winning At Cards In The 21st Century

I’ve gotta admit it.

Life here in the 21st century is pretty darn cool.  Granted, I’m not talking about life as we know it in these recessed (or depressed) times where gas jumps about a dollar a year, the government tells us what light bulbs to buy, and your local TSA agent abuses the 4th amendment on your junk when you’re trying to fly to Roswell for the weekend.

None of that crap applies when it comes to living in cool times.

Instead, life is good when we can harness our rugged individualism, our creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit to turn the cogs of capitalism to earn an inventive buck.  Naturally it helps to have a scanner, a smart phone with an app or two, and access to a couple of cool internet sites.

I’ve got ’em all ladies and gentlemen, and I’m not above using them to make my mark on the world (like I haven’t done so already).

Now I’m sure you’re wondering what I have in mind.

Before we go further, you’re going to need something besides your readin’ eyeballs in order to ensconce yourself in the brilliance of today’s blog.  If you have a smart phone, fire up your QR code reader.  If you don’t have one, go get one on the app store or android market, or whatever mechanism you use to add stuff to your phone.  They range in price from free to not free.

If you don’t know what a QR code is, feel free to take a look at my QR Code Companion.

Got one?

Good.

Ladies and gentlemen, I love playing cards.  I don’t really play enough, and I honestly doubt I could go off to some tournament and make any of the professionals named Phil my bitch.  Regardless, I still like to play, and Texas Hold ’em is one of my favorites.

The problem is that sometimes I need a little help.  On occasion, I’m riddled with doubt on whether I should go all in with my pair of twos.  Sometimes it’s a good decision, but other times my opponents may be sportin’ Big Slick, The Hilton Sisters, a Dead Man’s Hand, or even a pair of sailboats which will leave me a little broke.

Not knowing what my opponents are holding is just part of the challenge.  I’d like to know what’s coming up on the Flop or The Turn before I find myself living and dying by The River.

Thanks to the miracles of the 21st century, our collective doubts can now be set aside with the TharpSter Deck of Cards.  With this little 52 card gem, you can know the card before it gets turned over.

But wait!  There’s more!

The practical applications of the TharpSter Deck of Cards isn’t limited to Texas Hold ’em.  Virtually any poker game will increase you’re chip count, except for that one where you lick the card and put it on your forehead.

You can also use it on non-poker games like Go Fish and Gin.  For that matter, use it with magic tricks too.

All you have to do is to have your QR code reader at hand, and the ability to cause a distraction to get your opponents to look away when you scan the back of the card in question.

Scan away people.  The sky’s the limit.

Scan the center of the card

*Disclaimer – All things being equal, this process is cheating, plain, clear, and simple.  Be careful if you pull this stunt with marked cards.  You’ve been warned.
