The QR Code Companion

If you’re reading this page, you can thank Bob Rich.

I don’t know a lot about Bob outside of some of the work he’s published in the last month or so.  From that, I can tell you that heights are not his friend, and he appears to be a smart ass.  Just as frosting on the cake, Bob appears to possess the ability to express those qualities in a manner fit for the blogosphere.

Have I ever mentioned that the internet is a wonderful thing?

Anyway, one of Bob’s recent posts introduced me to the wonderful world of the QR code.  Put very simply, these little bad boys are the 21st century version of the bar code which is juiced up with a combination of anabolic steroids, nipple clamps, and 5 Hour Energy, all washed down with some Red Bull.

The magic of these codes is that you can build anything into them from a simple text message to a map location, to just about any piece of data you ever wanted to convey.  All you need to read these things is a smart phone with the right app.

When Bob posted a blog a few weeks ago about QR codes and the potentially wicked things that could be done with them, I made the decision then to go ahead and get a reader for my iPhone to see what was behind the picture code he had posted.  I won’t tell you what it was.  You’ll have to go check it out for yourself.

Since then, I’ve found a site in which I can create my own codes, and have sprinkled them among of a few of my latest blogs.

Going forward, I will continue to make new codes and provide updates on this page.

Get you’re a QR code reader for your smart phones, boys and girls.

Happy scanning.

Sunday 08/21/2011 – I can think of no other code than the following to inaugurate this page and usher in it’s ability to kick some ass.

Disclaimer – This particular code was not computer generated by the website I normally use to create these masterpieces.  Instead, it was hand drawn by the individual featured in the picture linked by the code.   The photo itself is by Alan Light.
