Using Find/Replace to Reveal Cookie Cutter Liberalism

Okay people.  Bear with me here while I try something.  If I do this right, I’ll only have to write half of this thing.

Here goes.

The Car Allowance Rebate System, informally known as Cash for Clunkers, is a government sponsored program in which the American people (and illegals too) participate in yet another experiment of the perpetual utopian social engineering goals of liberalism.  Under this program, owners with qualifying vehicles are given the opportunity to scrap their cars and trucks for a newer, more fuel efficient, and environmentally friendly ride.  In order to do so, owners are required to visit a NHTSA qualified dealer and subject their cars and trucks to a set of criteria established by the government (versus a reputable mechanic) to determine if their ride will qualify for rebates.  If and when it does qualify, the owner then uses the perceived benefit of the program to get a new vehicle.  Keep in mind that a new vehicle the owner seeks to obtain has to meet various criteria established the government.  This once again puts the owner and his/her reputable mechanic out of the decision making process.

Even in its infancy, Cash for Clunkers has proven to be problematic.   Demand has already exceeded the original financial limits placed on the program.  The application and qualification process represents the epitome of red tape restriction.  The computerized system being used to process the applications has reportedly crashed a time or two.  In the meantime, owners who have a qualifying vehicle that are in need of a new vehicle are being forced to wait for the rebates to be approved by the government and it’s long standing paradigm of inefficiency.    The sad irony here is that the owner should be able to go out and purchase a new vehicle without government intervention.

Much like most liberal programs, Cash for Clunkers will be lauded by it’s proponents as a really good idea which helped to get the country back on her feet.  A long term point of view with the benefit of hindsight will prove it to be yet another cobblestone on the misguided road to slowing economic recovery and the continued erosion of personal freedom.

Okay, now consider the following changes:

Okay then.  Let’s make the strategic switch of words and see if this works:

The Universal Healthcare Program, informally known as Obamacare, is a government sponsored program in which the American people (and illegals too) participate in yet another experiment of the perpetual utopian social engineering goals of liberalism.  Under this program, patients with health issues are given the opportunity to relinquish their personal freedom for a government run health care system.  In order to do so, patients are required to visit a medical facility of the governments choosing and subject their personal freedom to a set of criteria established by the government (versus a personal physician) to determine if their condition will qualify for tests and procedures.  If and when it does qualify, the patient then uses the perceived benefit of the program to get quality care.  Keep in mind that the quality care the patient seeks to obtain has to meet various criteria established the government.  This once again puts the patient and his/her personal physician out of the decision making process.

Did you ever notice just how much all of these government programs fall into a cookie cutter mentality?
