Was There Anything New?

First of all, let me say right up front that I didn’t watch the Obama healthcare news conference last night.  I missed it due to other pressing matters which actually transcend any contrived crisis which the President and his teleprompter have dreamed up, so I ask you this.

Was there anything new?

I would honestly like to know, because all I have to rely on right now are my preconceived notions about the entire plan to hijack somewhere between a sixth and a seventh of the U.S. economy and model its operation after a paradigm which has been proven over and again to be non-conducive to the greater good.

Please tell me he said the right things.  Please tell me the teleprompter instructed him to take the pro-American stance by singing the praises of the best healthcare system in the world.  Did he do that?  Did he extol the virtues and training of American healthcare professionals in general?  What about the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies?  He didn’t demonize them for making a profit did he?

What about the truth?  Did he tell it?

Did he clear the air on that line he’s passing about the American people and their ability to keep the plans they’re happy with?    Did he mention in passing that a government controlled system won’t really control costs?  Going further, did he actually come clean that such a system doesn’t control costs, but controls the very lives of those he would seek to cover?

I sit here with baited breath in great anticipation that the truth is being delivered word for word about such a matter of great importance.  Please tell me there’s a light, no matter how dim, at the end of the tunnel on this one.
