Do you remember the good old days?

Sure you do.

There was a time when the hot button topics about the assaults on our freedoms resided in evil documents like The USA PATRIOT Act and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.  Even off on the side there was the Military Commissions Act.  Back in the day, these acts had progressive liberals, conspiracy theorists, and others with Bush hating, left leaning sentiments whipped up in froth about how we were well on our way to hell in a nitrous infused hand basket.  Don’t forget the tasty jams and jellies.

I remember those good old days.  There was a time, I actively participated in a political discussion group on some ad-based social networking site making perpetual demands for the specific language in those documents that limited my freedom as a gun totin’, Bible thumpin’, nut scratchin’ American.  Sadly, the objects of my torment could never find the right URL in which to highlight the text and simultaneously hit Control-C and then a subsequent Control-V to give me what I was looking for.  Instead, they posted links and plates full of copy-pasta from opinion pieces offered up by the same gaggle of progressive liberals, conspiracy theorists, and others with Bush hating, left leaning sentiments who had the ability to offer their self-cherished blather on the internet.

Jeez, I miss those days.

Nowadays we have legislation which has been enacted, and even more on the way that specifically spells out the erosion of our freedom.  Where are the advocates and watchdogs for our freedoms today?  Where are the progressive liberals, conspiracy theorists, and others with Bush hating, left leaning sentiments?  Have they composed their opinion pieces and in-depth examinations of the legislation which has been put on the board over the last 20 months?  Where is it?  I must have missed it.

Oh that’s right.  The same group of progressive liberals, conspiracy theorists, and others with Bush hating, left leaning sentiments that spent their time fighting the monsters under the bed during the last administration now have their guys in power.  Since it’s their guys that are doing it, obviously there’s no real problem.  After all, it’s only spelled out in black and white with no possibility of being miscontextualized.
