Sometime back, most likely after watching a particular movie via a streaming service, I visited the internet in hopes of finding a certain office product.
That particular product had been featured as a MacGuffin in that movie, and I thought it would be pretty cool to have one.
So in a sense, the MacGuffin in the movie turned into a MacGuffin of my own.
I located the product on Amazon, put it on my wish list and forgot about it. The general premise was that at some point in the near future, I would receive an Amazon Gift Card for New Year’s (my birthday) or Christmas. I would then access my wish list, find that nugget I had forgotten about, and obtain the item accordingly.
I told nobody about my intentions.
My beloved wife, who has figured out by now that I will rarely tell her what I want for my New Year’s celebration took it upon herself to go find that item on my wish list and purchased it for me.
As I unwrapped my present, she told me it was something from my wish list. Even then, I had no idea what it could be.
This one is up there with when she got me the shirts with my logo on them, or when I got an autographed Bloom County book.
There’s to no salt on the margarita.
No salt!
There might be strychnine in the guacamole.
Even still, I have my stapler.
