Getting Allayed

Well it’s not the first time I’ve sat here wondering what the hell I was going to write about.  It probably won’t be the last.

I remember one of the reasons I originally opted out of a daily blog back when I launched TharpSter.org was that I wanted to go with quality over quantity.  Now the real drive is to follow through with my commitment to publish a daily blog during what the Mayans consider to be our last year on Earth.

As I sit here rifling through a Google search for a cool Batman/Joker picture I recently encountered, I should let you know that Wifey is on the phone with AT&T Uverse again regarding the piss poor quality (my words, not hers) of the wireless receiver we recently installed.

All along I’ve maintained that the service has been pretty good, but the equipment has sucked.  The technicians who have been out to the house and are just about to get their own coffee cup here at the compound have agreed with my assessment.

None the less, Wifey called today because of intermittent pausing and jumping around that the receiver experiences.  For the first time, the individual on the other end of the phone has taken on a condescending tone which subsequently inspired Wifey to remind her that there are other cable providers in town.

Fifteen minutes of “trouble shooting” later, our concerns about a successful remote fix of the equipment have not been allayed.

“Allayed.”

I got my annual review today from the confines of Cubeville and that word appeared in it.  As I understand it based on the context in which it was used in my review, it means the blue pill has successfully been jammed down the throat of the one with a concern, and now they are sufficiently subdued and in their happy place.

Wifey has now set up an appointment for a technician to come out this next week between 8am and noon.

I swear, one day I’m going to open my own cable company and provide more narrow windows of service times.  Don’t get me started on the brand of equipment I will not use.

Now that I’ve gotten a blog written, I feel allayed.  Here’s hoping Good Friday gives me something to write about.
