This summer’s offering of cinematic masterpieces and the feeble attempts which fell pathetically short strike me as no different than any other offering handed down from Hollywood on high in any previous summer.
The one exception is the fact that I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many super heroes born of the ink and painted land of comics across more movies in a three month time frame more than what we’ve seen this summer.
Sure I just wrote that, but I think last summer gave us more comic book heroes than this summer. Granted, I think this year’s crop of flicks produced less disappointment than what we got last year.
*cough, cough* Green Lantern *cough*
Naturally I write this just a matter of days before the latest Batman flick opens up to cap off a good showing by Marvel’s latest efforts, one of which featuring the lovely and talented Scarlett Johansson in skin tight attire armed for bear (or bare).
None the less, one upcoming movie getting a lot of commercial play lately which won’t steal audiences from Batman is another Step Up sacrifice.
To be honest, I just don’t understand dance films where the cast breaks out in perfectly choreographed flash mobs. I guess there’s a market and necessity for that stuff as much as there is for fluffers, rodeo clowns, and wellness program coordinators.
