Suffice to say, Left Eye Squinty appears to have exited stage….
Well.
Left.
Not a moment too soon if you ask me. Last year’s bout with a corneal edema threw my world into a blurry state of light sensitivity and general itchiness. My eye bothered me too. I had to wear my glasses, which were littered with a very old prescription not worthy of even attempting to assist my visual impairment.
It was kinda like that scene in The Avengers where Tony Stark asks how Nick Fury sees all of the different screens at his command station on the floating aircraft carrier.
Well, not really. That comparison just seemed to be a little fitting for describing the issues with my left eye last year.
Please take note that I mentioned that movie without making reference to you know who.
*pauses to reflect on that cool scene from Iron Man 2*
A year later, things are better. I can see through either my updated contacts or the new pair of glasses I finally bought. By the way, those blasted bifocals are eligible for a reimbursement from my medical savings account. Suck it Obamacare!
So now that I can see better, it’s time to get back into reading. To be honest, the last book I read was the last Harry Potter book when it first came out. Granted I had gotten away from reading for leisure after that, reason being I don’t really know. As I got away from it, my vision began to worsen. I don’t really think one was a cause of the other though.
Now, I’m ready to get back into it. Before I do, I’ve decided that I’m going to buy an e-reader. There are a whole buncha reasons which I’ve chosen to go this route, and I’m sure every single one of them will be pretty darn boring in your eyes. I know this because I consider them boring.
I have two more decisions to make at this point. Selecting a reader is the first choice. For what it’s worth, my selection process is boring too.
The second choice will be more important.
What will be the first book I read on my new e-reader? It would seem that my choice is going to vary between books I’ve read before, or those which I’ve never read. Those books are:
1 A Confederacy of Dunces
2 The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
3 State of Fear
4 Ameritopia
5 The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
6 Atlas Shrugged
7 Interview with the Vampire
8 Oogy
9 I really should have additional titles
10 Hmmmmmmm
Number 2 should come as no surprise, however at the same time I don’t think I’ve ever discussed number 1 here on TharpSter.Org. Once I read it again, I’ll come back and babble about it a bit. You should check it out in the meantime.
Truth be told, I can only count 4.25 books from the list above that I’ve actually read and would want to read again. I guess that’s a good thing.
Left Eye Squinty out.
