WASHINGTON, D.C. – The White House announced late Wednesday that it would make public all available documentary evidence pertaining to the birth place of the President. According to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, the administration feels it’s necessary to release all records pertaining to Barack Obama’s birth so the issue can be laid to rest once and for all. Gibbs reiterated that proof of the Obama’s citizenship has been proven ad nauseam. “There are 10,000 more important issues than to be debating the President’s citizenship.”
Unlike previous moves to resolve the issue, the White House has made the surprising decision to include documentation from the actual record itself, which resides in Hawaii. Such a move is unique, as the record was sealed by Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle in October of last year when then Senator Obama travelled to the state to visit his ailing grandmother.
The administration has been dogged about the nature of Obama’s citizenship since before the inauguration in January. A term for those who continue to question the birth place of the President, regardless of the proof provided is ‘birther’.
The basis of the birthers’ arguments is a claim made by Obama’s Kenyan grandmother that she witnessed the President’s birth in Mombasa, Kenya. What’s even more is the claim that there is a Kenyan birth certificate in existence which verifies Mombasa to be the actual birth place.
The White House has scheduled a press conference on Friday, in which it will present the actual records which verify the President was in fact born in Hawaii.
