In listening to the news and talk radio on and off throughout the day, one of the biggest subjects to litter the airwaves today is the constant reports about how members of each of the parties in Congress are going to be interwoven throughout the chamber during the State of the Union. 

This doesn’t make me happy.

Here’s a message to any of you people who were apolitical before 2008, and are keeping up with things now. 

Do you remember why you came out and voted in the 2010 mid-term election? 

National unemployment is up and the value of your house is down.  Steps have been taken repeatedly over the last two years to limit your freedom more than it’s ever been.  If you’ve been through the airport recently, it’s possible that you’ve had government sanctioned picture of your nekid body taken.  If you refused that, then you probably got a government sanctioned groping and the threat of a fine instead.

Does that jog a memory or two?

So when you got off of your phlegmatic butt this last November and made the choice to vote for some meaningful change, you did so because you didn’t like how things were going.

As a result, you turned over control of the U.S. House of Representatives, several governorships, and a whole buncha state legislatures as well.

Do you know what the ruling class did when you voted them out? 

They went back into a lame duck session and rammed through a whole lot of legislation which you did not favor.

Around three weeks ago, a gun toting nut let loose with his neurosis at a political gathering in Arizona.  I don’t need to tell you what the outcome of the gun play was, but maybe I need to tell you what legacy of that stunt was. 

Before anybody knew the details of what had happened, a boneheaded sheriff automatically blamed the right wing for inspiring the gunman to do what he did.  Journalistic malpractice ensued, and before the bodies were in the ground, the major media outlets jumped on the bandwagon to blame the right. 

Every indication has shown us that the Arizona gunman was not inspired by rhetoric from either side of the political spectrum.

Even still, Colorado Democrat Mark Udall started singing the Rodney King tune about getting along.  One way to do that would be for the Democrats and Republicans to sit together during the State of the Union speech tonight.

Let’s recap.

Congressional Democrats use the Arizona incident under the rice paper banner of civility to hide their diminished numbers in the House by blending into the majority of its members.

That’s not the worst part about it though.

Nope.

The colossal display of idiocy in this symbolic display of civility is the fact that the Republicans have fallen for the trick.

When you voted to repudiate the tyrannical agenda last November, you did so to get us back on track.  You voted to repeal Obamacare.  You voted to fix illegal immigration.  You voted to stop junk science from governing our energy needs.  You voted to get rid of those stupid mercury filled light bulbs which look like curly fries drenched in yogurt.

Did you vote for date night at the State of the Union?

If the answer is yes, I only have one suggestion for you.

End your suffrage.
