You know there’s something to be said for that piece of lettuce that was consumed with grilled buffalo chicken and no less than a gallon of ranch dressing last Thursday that now floats completely digested at its next station in life, fully refusing to allow itself to be swept away with the rest of the flotsam and jetsam deposited at said station with the tenacity of a fearless girl facing down a bull.

The salad was delicious and the subsequent digestion was troublesome.  I don’t understand why I need the reminder this many days later.

Irregardlessly, I’ve got to think that the little tidbit of verbal brilliance which opened today’s post won’t fully capture the spirit behind this website’s new tagline.  As such, let’s move on.

I’ve made a few observations as of late, and I would be remiss if I didn’t share them so as to create a valid audit trail in the event that my ability to see the sun coming up in the east bears fruit and I’m proven to be correct.

Let’s start with the least most interesting tidbit and work our way forward.  After all, I’m sure you need some time to dispense with that imagery involving the lettuce.

Economic Hard Times

It would seem that the market is due for a downturn in the coming years.

Now it should be set right here and now that I will not confirm or deny the assessment about the coming bear market with any pretense that I know how to read the seams on the fastball when it comes to figuring out whether I should go short on queso futures.

Even still, I find that the frequency of the reporting on the downturn seems to have increased in the last few weeks as if the media is pivoting to another approach to attack the President in the ramp up to 2020.

I’ll leave the prognosticators in the industry to figure that stuff out while I stay long on my aggressively invested pico de gallo farm, knowing that the time to tap into its earnings are later down the road. 

A Demand For Hate

Okay, let’s move on to the zeitgeist.  The current mentality right now is that our supply of hatred has been outweighed by our demand for hatred.  This is evidenced in the news as of late with hyperbolic reporting of race related crimes where the unexpurgated truth isn’t offered with reporting of the incident in question.  Take the case around Jussie Smollett.

For those of you not in the know, Smollett said that we was attacked in the early morning hours of January 29, 2019 in Chicago while going out for a sandwich.  The attack involved two men in ski masks making racial and homophobic slurs and stated “This is MAGA (Make America Great Again) country” during the attack.  In addition, they put a noose around Smollett’s neck and poured an unknown liquid on him.  The Chicago Police proceeded to investigate the incident as a hate crime.

But wait, there’s more.

As the Chicago Police dug deeper and deeper into the incident, they came to the conclusion that Smollett was behind the attack.  The subsequently charged Smollett  for committing the hoax.  The Chicago Police held a press conference to discuss the attack, and said some pretty disparaging things about the entire event.

But wait, there’s more.

This last week on March 26, 2019, all charges were dropped against Smollett and the court file on the matter was ordered sealed.

Now I won’t even begin to offer up an explanation for what actually happened on January 29th when the attack happened, or what happened two months later when the charges were dropped.  There are so many questions about the case and it’s dismissal that make a whole lot of sense, and no sense at all.  Every single one of those questions have already been asked, so I won’t bother to sully this precious post which opened with an digested piece of lettuce by introducing material I know to be retreaded.

That’s not going to stop me from talking about the double edged blade of cognitive dissonance which surrounds this case though.

On one side, you have those who supported Smollett from the get-go who believed he had been the victim of a hate crime.  When the Chicago Police announced that the crime didn’t go down in the manner it was reported, those on Smollett’s side had to reconcile their support with the mounting evidence and make a determination on whether the attack was staged or not.

On another side, those who questioned the validity of the attack came to the conclusion that Smollett had staged the entire event in order to perpetuate a narrative.  When the charges against Smollett were dropped, the only way those subscribing to the hoax theory could reconcile the surprising turn of events in their mind was to suggest that a conspiracy involving uniquely placed officials within the Chicago political machine were behind the outcome.

We may never know which version of the events involving Jussie Smollett on January 29th is correct.  As it is right now, there’s only one person out there who knows exactly what happened, and he may never offer up answers to the questions which have been asked.  None the less, the whole incident is unique for its ability to create cognitive dissonance for those on both sides of the discussion.

Okay, enough talk about financial disasters and the occasional midnight sandwich run gone awry.

Zombies

Let’s talk about zombies.

The Walking Dead is a popular television series about various groups of humans making their way in this world against the constant threat of zombies.  Along the way, the humans form relationships and coalitions to survive the ongoing threat of zombies which endeavor to satiate their need for sustenance. 

Game Of Thrones is a popular television series about various groups of humans making their way in a fictional world against the constant threat of zombies.  Along the way, the humans form relationships and coalitions to survive the ongoing threat of zombies which endeavor to expand the size of their army exponentially.

Right?

None the less, the show with zombies and their aggressive recruitment efforts begins broadcasting its final season in a few more weeks.  The other show about the hungry zombies is supposed to wrap up next year.

Given the similarity of these shows and the fact that all of the humans seem to be chasing the same MacGuffin, it would seem only fitting that both shows have an opportunity to consolidate not only all of their efforts within their own shows, but between both shows to defeat the zombie scourge they all endeavor to defeat.

A quick search on the internet allowed me to identify a weakness in the zombie armies on both shows that will facilitate their defeat.  Mind you, my suggested method doesn’t really transcend the use of Valerian Steele, dragon glass, and cranial impalements.  Instead, this approach takes the Wayne Gretzky approach to hockey of not going where the puck is, but where the puck is going to be.

It would seem, ladies and gentlemen that the zombies are synchronized and choreographed in their behavior.  Learn their moves, and humans situated deep in the heart of the South Eastern Conference and northern Westeros will be able to dispense with the zombies in a more efficient manner.
