Well the holiday weekend is just about over and that means that the Christmas season is upon us.

This last weekend has been eventful in a mediocre sense. Junior was in town to help watch football and take pictures of a sleeping uncle who overdosed on tryptophan.  I made the trip into the Texas hill country today to drop him off at his launching point where he and his roommate will return to DormVille and a particularly challenging Jenga stack.

In the meantime, the basic cable package underwent a temporary enhancement this weekend when the provider offered up free movie channels this weekend.

Free movie channels with soft core porn, that is.

Good Lord in butter, people.

It seems like each of the four movie networks we encountered this weekend had clothing optional policies for films broadcast after 10pm.  For several hours afterward, all types of skin displays and simulated unga-bunga littered the airwaves (or cable waves, take your pick) each night we had access to commercial free television.

One of them had a show called “Dave’s Old Porn” in which comedian Dave Attell spends 30 minutes reviewing the finer parts of old porno films from the 70’s.

Scary stuff.

None the less, weekends like this (at least during the day) help us to DVR various films that are good enough to watch repeatedly, but not really worth the DVD purchase.

Otherwise, the free cable weekend pretty much served as a good reminder on why we don’t subscribe to expanded cable.  To be honest, it’s just not worth the added cost.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go to bed now.  I stayed up pretty late practically every night this last weekend and I’m pretty gosh darn tired.
