A few years ago when this site was but a collection of five or six articles, I wrote about universal healthcare and its potential assault on the 1st Amendment.

You remember that one don’t you?

In it, I asserted that the demands of socialized medicine would set aside the religious beliefs and practices of those who don’t ascribe to traditional western medicine that a majority of us use today. Faith healing and new age practices were the two that came to mind.

Given that the individual mandate would be used to force those who don’t use western medicine to buy into the system, an infringement on the 1st Amendment is bound to be imminent.

That argument has meat, yet I haven’t heard it get used against the proponents of Obamacare. Certainly I can be pretty insightful, but the premise that I’m the only who has thought of this one baffles me.

This puts a whole new bent on my solipsism and inspires me to consider its validity.

So now that I’ve given you the “previously on TharpSter rants against Obamacare” rundown as a background, let’s talk about what happened this week.

After nearly three years of running the Obamanation through the courts on its way to a 5-4 USSC decision about the Constitutionality of the individual mandate, discussions of the 1st Amendment have come up. Granted, we’re not quite in a “I told you so” state yet because the latest assault doesn’t look at faith healing and alternative medicine.

Instead, it looks at birth control and abortion.

Whodathunkit?

Given that those two items are a big big sacrament in the liberal way, I’m frankly shocked I didn’t see it coming before. Regardless, it came out this week that the administration expects employers to provide abortion services and birth control as part of the demands of Obamacare.

No exceptions.

This has caused a big uproar lately, because the mandate which has come down from up on high within the administration applies to Catholic based businesses. Just for the record, Catholicism tends to rap the knuckles with a ruler when it comes to birth control and abortion. Both are a no-no.

That’s right. Under the flag of Obamacare, the government is telling a faith based business to carry out a practice within their business which is inconsistent with the nature of their business.

Unconstitutional as hell.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

W-T-F

Naturally, the whole uproar this last week back to Obama culminates into a massive WTF.

As expected, he rolled it back today in order to show his ability to compromise. Instead of making the businesses do it, he’s put the onus on the insurance companies instead. Those would be the insurance companies who are paid by, and receive directives from the business themselves.

What’s next?

The President makes a move this week to trample the 1st Amendment rights of the Catholic Church when he clearly has no right to tell them they have to set their beliefs aside in order implement Obamacare. He then changes the language of the mandate to make it look like he’s changed his mind.

All along, this monstrosity lives and breaths on the fact that the government can tell us that we have to enter into a contract when that was never the intent of the founding fathers when they laid down the framework for this great country of ours.

It would seem that we have a few slam dunks here.

There first one is that Obamacare reeks of unconstitutionality from head to toe and should be stricken down upon review by the Supreme Court.

The other slam dunk is that Obama’s record as President as defined by his policies and the results thereof, combined by his tyrannical treatment of the American people in the name of his vision of this country are enough to make him a one term president.

So why is it that I have so much distrust right now for the American voting public and the Supreme Court?

Vote Responsibly Y’all.

“I am Jack’s raging bile duct.”

Recently I’ve developed a new appreciation for the movie Fight Club. Thanks to the wonders of basic cable, I’ve seen the edited version sans profanity and subliminal junk shots (<==8) several times. One of these days I would imagine I’ll put forth the effort to read the book. Given my commitments to the web, the fabric covered box in which I plant my Business Analyst spread at the auxiliary office, and assorted fatherly stuff I do for a couple of teenagers, my ability to just sit down with my hyperopic shortcomings to read small print in a book has become limited over the years.

I tell you this as a caveat to everything else you are about to read here. Understand my dear reader that since I haven’t read the book, any reference I make to Fight Club is solely based on my interpretation of Hollywood’s interpretation of the book. That means that if the main roles were completely miss-cast, or if Meat Loaf’s character didn’t have a big ole set of moobs (\*/\*/) in the book, I’m ignorant of that particular assault on literature so common to film adaptations.

You’ve been warned. You should probably watch the movie if you expect to understand what I discuss here. My disclaimer is now complete.

Speaking of raging bile ducts, let’s talk about Obamacare. Unlike the early days of TharpSter.Org, I haven’t exercised my verbal brilliance on that particular subject matter to any great extent in quite some time.

So here’s where we stand right now. U.S. District Court Judge Roger Vinson ruled the individual mandate within the legislation to be unconstitutional. Since the savants in the 110th Congress were unable to attach severability to the law, the whole damn thing is in the crapper. It’s all or nothing baby.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that the administration has chosen to ignore the ruling since it’s pending an appeal which will ultimately be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Let’s hope that a) no other judges retire / expire between now and go-time leaving a vacancy for another wise Latina or some other ill qualified candidate, or b) Justice Anthony Kennedy doesn’t mix his Red Bull with Nyquil on the day he casts the swing vote.

Even still, steps are still being taken to implement the law. I should reiterate that the law has been ruled to be unconstitutional.

The state of Alaska is looking to return the federal funds which have been passed out to implement, and the Obama thugs want to bring the courts in on that decision too.

Congress is doing what it can to repeal and/or defund Obamacare. Sadly the Senate and White House hold the same machinations about their precious tyranny and continue to take the necessary steps to stop the efforts of Congress to stop the insanity.

All the while, Obama and his minions have lied through their teeth about Obamacare. Take note that I no longer refer to it as universal healthcare. The concept and practice of universal healthcare as we know it today is already a nasty premise, but it fails in comparison to the colonic extrusion which was passed into law this last year. The back door deals, the Louisiana Purchase, the Cornhusker Kickback, the generally unaccepted accounting practices, and the empty promises provided a brilliant collection of single helix DNA for that law which just made it bad from day one. Call me crazy, but I’m not of the thought that you should put a fire out with gasoline.

“I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.”

In the fall of 2008, we as a country had grown tired of the way things were being handled. We had a President who had been rendered ineffectual as a result of a bad mid-term election in 2006. That of course was brought on by a combination of a media who hated him and didn’t hesitate to say anything about him, regardless of whether it was true. We had an economy in the middle of a collapse. Said collapse was due to the perpetual do-gooder efforts of the guys in the other party over the last twenty years to make part of the American dream a whole lot easier to obtain. They fought back hard when the President tried to fix the growing problem. They called him racist and uncaring.

In short, the electorate had become an insomniac riddled with all sorts of psychosomatic ailments which cast us on a trail to ruin. The American people had tried everything they could think of to cure itself. It attended a wide variety of support groups and looked for other means to feel better again. Nothing worked.

And then, America snapped.

Traditional means weren’t doing the trick, so the country stepped out of the box and found a cure in the presence of one Barack “Tyler Durden” Obama.

Early on in the relationship with our new friend, he offered us a new way of approaching things. His message of hope and change made us all moony eyed over what could potentially be.

But then, things started taking bigger and bolder jumps out of the paradigm of sanity. Hope and change redubbed themselves as “Project Mayhem”, and Obamacare ensued.

Only in the last six months have we taken real steps to stop Tyler from carrying out his plans. The only problem is that he’s not that easy to stop. Things were far to gone before we realized that Tyler was nothing but an empty suited manifestation of the deepest of our anxieties.

This isn’t something we can just snap out of. Hope and change aren’t going to solve our problems, and Project Mayhem is only going to make it worse.

“What’s that smell?”

I would suggest to you that Tyler asked that same exact question when the results of the 2010 mid-term elections came rolling in and revealed that the Americans who exercise their suffrage rights rejected Project Mayhem on a national and state level.

Even still, the damage born of Project Mayhem continues to be put into place. Even though we understand that it’s wrong, we still have to take some extraordinary steps in order to get it completely out of our lives. We don’t have much time to do it either.

“On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone turns to zero.”

Outside of the switchover in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Arizona shooting which returned civil discourse to the American political stage (not), three events which pitched in their respective two cents to shape our lives came by way of a crushing blow to an American tragedy, the potential rise of an American Idol, and the return of an American great.

Last year, in their rush to pass Obamacare into law, Congress failed to put a severability clause into the legislation which couldn’t reveal its contents until it got passed. That’s what then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said when she was questioned whether she or any of her minions had read the bill. At the end of January, U.S. District Court Judge Roger Vinson found the individual mandate to be unconstitutional.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the individual mandate, consider this device to be as crucial to Obamacare as the Force and merchandising was to Star Wars.

Typically when legislation makes its way out of Congress and gets signed into law, it contains language which protects its butt from a big picture point of view. In the event there is language in various sections of the bill which are deemed by the Judiciary as unconstitutional, that one piece is severed from the entire legislation so the law doesn’t have to be scrapped.

Since the last Congress failed to put such language into Obamacare, the ruling of the individual mandate makes the entire law unconstitutional. Thank you, Judge Vinson, for reading the Constitution.

More to come on that one. Right now, I can only quote the President on this one. “Bring it on.”

As American Idol returned to the boob tube this year, an instant heart warmer revealed itself in the form of one standard sized Chris Medina. Good ole Chris made a commitment to the woman he loves, boys and girls. Even more important was that Chris opted to keep that commitment after his fiancé suffered a life changing brain injury. Fortunately he can sing, so he’s earned himself a trip to Hollywood and a position in the next round. Whether he has the pipes to go the distance is unknown at this time. Consider what the news and talk shows will be like on the day after if/when the Simon-wannabes or America sends him home packing.

Even more impressive than the previous two events is the return of one of America’s greatest to the center stage. Years old rumors surrounding late baseball great Ted Williams were put to rest in January when it was revealed that The Thumper had in fact undergone the process of cryogenic freezing shortly after his passing in 2002. Even more surprising was that steps had already been taken to reanimate Williams, and they were successful.

The concept of cryogenic freezing involves freezing the corpse of one who is recently departed with the goal of reviving the individual sometime in the future when a cure for whatever ailed them has been developed.

It’s not known exactly when Williams was revived, however nine years after his death the Boston Red Sox slugger appears to be fine.

Don’t expect that you’ll recognize him upon meeting him though. Nowadays, Williams is an alcoholic homeless black man with a history of substance abuse. In early January, Williams was seen panhandling on street corners while quoting radio station tag lines for cash. After being discovered on a viral video, Williams has been offered several jobs, reunited with his estranged family, and shipped off to rehab. That was all in one week by the way.

Way back in the old days when I was growing up, our family went out for dinner one night at The Village Inn. We were frequent guests there, and as a result we had gotten to know a lot of the wait staff at our local coffee shop. Upon arriving that fateful night, we were seated at a table which already had napkins and silverware set for us. We sat there reading our menus for quite some time. Granted, that wasn’t because we couldn’t decide what to order. Instead, the delay came as a result of our waitress who failed to acknowledge our existence on the planet, let alone the fact we were sitting at her station.

When she did arrive, we didn’t know her and she didn’t know us. Her hair was mess and she looked emotionally rattled. I can only guess what she had been doing just moments before. Strangely enough, she began placing silverware in front of each of the four of us. Naturally the placement of said silverware was right next to the silverware which was already there. For reasons unknown to me this day, we said nothing and just let her continue.

Out here in polite society, it’s nearly a social taboo to call attention to the stupid things that people say and do. Such events have taken place in the last week or so, and those who committed the offense were only criticized for their actions well after they opened their pie holes.

Last week, U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (D-GA) made the following comment in a House Armed Service Committee meeting with regard to a military build up on the island of Guam: “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,”

The admiral he was speaking too merely responded that such an event was not anticipated.

Earlier this week after “throwing” out the first pitch at a Washington Nationals home opener, Barack Obama went up into a broadcaster’s booth for a short interview. When asked who his favorite players on the Chicago White Sox back when he was growing up, he couldn’t name one. He also went on to refer to Comiskey Park as Cominskey Park instead. He had made the same reference last year.

In both instances, his interviewer never corrected him and or even grilled him on the whether his reported love for the White Sox was authentic as he would have us believe.

In an interview with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Greta Van Susteren proceeded with a line of questioning about the special deal that Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) was able get for his home state in return for his vote on the universal healthcare bill. In response to the grilling, Reid at one point asked Van Susteren if she would have preferred for him to allow the bill on universal healthcare to fail.

Van Susteren stuttered a bit and was never forthcoming with an answer.

Why didn’t that admiral tell Congressman Johnson that Guam is an island which was formed as the result of tectonic plate collision and is not subject to the threat of capsizing?

Why wasn’t the President corrected on the spelling/pronunciation of the home field of his beloved team by either of the responsible journalists who were interviewing him?

Why didn’t Greta Van Susteren simply say something like: “Yes, Senator. That’s exactly what you should have done. Every poll out there said that the American people were overwhelmingly against the legislation that you were driving through Congress.”?

The Emperor is as naked as a jaybird here, and no one has what former Secretary of State Madeline Albright would refer to as the cajones to call the current collection of idiots on their patent absurdities.

Now then.

I told you that in order to tell you this.

The recent return of the TharpSter Pit Bull has returned the colorful events which we encountered prior to her disappearance. A new AT&T U-Verse remote is on order. I’ve replaced the headphones which used to be attached to the TharpSter PC. They were less than mysteriously relocated to the living room floor in multiple pieces last week right around the time when the threat of Guam potentially capsizing became publically known. The problem with the noise cancelling pair which replaced the old ones is the fact that they drowned out the sound of a Pit Bull grabbing a bag of rawhide treats off of the counter a little while ago.

Hope has now been enrolled in obedience training which will begin this weekend. What that means to you as the reader is that there probably won’t be too many stories about her chewing escapades in the near future.

However.

There is one item in which Hope subjected to the 235 pound per square inch bite strength of a Pit Bull this evening in which I would like to in turn subject to my rant about polite society.

I’m going to put that item in the guest bathroom, and see if anyone says anything.

Wish me luck.

Even though I’m known to let loose with any selection of those seven colorful words which the late George Carlin once observed as ineligible to be uttered on television, I have a filter. Even more so, my filter works pretty well. It works so well in fact, that if you should hear such words escape my pie hole, you can be rest assured that such a selection was completely on purpose.

Many years ago, before the brilliant mind of my late Grandfather succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer’s, the retired English teacher passed on some words of wisdom which I have yet to forget. I don’t remember the exact words, but the context of the message was as follows: “The English language is too vast to resort to words like that.” Even though I still use a measured level of profanity, I try to keep that thought in mind when I’m firing off dispatches to the web or interacting with people outside of the TharpSter.Org compound. I find such a personal policy helps to challenge my writing skills.

On March 23rd, our President marked the collective anniversaries of milestones in the rise to power of Mussolini and Hitler by signing universal healthcare into law. In the process of announcing the completion of their monumental task, Vice President Joe Biden introduced TOTUS & The Symbiont. As Obama approached the podium, Biden hugged him and whispered a statement to his boss which was just loud enough to be heard by the open microphone. Just when we thought White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was the only one dropping the F-Bomb on the people’s dime, we found out that Biden’s profanity filter has as many gaps as his hair plugs.

Sadly, such a classless display from the Vice President came as no surprise. The man has been known for plagiarizing speeches and the works of others, and saying really stupid things whenever there’s a microphone in his face.

While surfing blogs today, I ran across one which sported a picture of a new t-shirt. The t-shirt in question says the following: “Health Reform is a BFD – March 23, 2010” The only thing the blog said, was that the author wanted one. A link was provided which pointed to where such a shirt could be purchased.

While I initially found the statement to be amusing, it occurred to me that anyone who had produced such a statement in order to mock the Vice Potty Mouth was missing a conservative credential or two.

The entire debate over the last year has been about the cost of health care, and not the actual health care itself. Any right winger worth his/her hard earned and over taxed salt would have come up with something a little bit more clever. For that matter, I would have said “Hijacking Your Freedom is a BFD”.

Being a tad dubious of the origin of the phrase, I followed the link to see what misguided skull was behind it.

Would you care to guess what I found?

Times up.

The site which is selling the t-shirt is Organizing for America. That’s right people. The President’s own propaganda arm has made the decision not to shun or ignore the Vice President’s remarks, but embrace them instead.

I’ll dispense with the indignation right here and now, regardless of whether it’s righteous. Instead, I’ll pass on the following thought.

There will be a point in the future where the President will ignore the verbal brilliance that TOTUS is feeding him. At that point where he goes off script, he will let loose with language which contains one of those seven words. In reaction, his minions will ignore it. They will justify it. They will respond to criticism with something like “So he said the F word. BFD.”

It’s just a matter of time.

Last week, TOTUS & The Symbiont successfully planted the seeds of their social utopia by signing into law the universal healthcare legislation which has been the subject of debate for the last year. Several underhanded techniques and practices were used in the process, including a colorful use of the English language by White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

A wide variety of opinion polls commissioned by parties on all ends of the political spectrum has revealed that the public at large did not like the bill as it was written. Even still, Congress and the President moved forward with their agenda as a solid display of their ability to govern against the will of the people.

Once the legislation was signed into law, Obama sent an email to his supporters asking that they add their own names to the legislation as well. Here at TharpSter.Org, we were able to obtain a copy of that letter before it was wordsmithed and disseminated.

Dear Kool Aid Guzzling Minion –I’m writing to you on a great day for America. It’s a great day because I said it was.

This morning, on the 91st anniversary of the creation of Benito Mussolini’s fascist movement and the 77th anniversary of rise to Adolph Hitler’s dictatorship, I gathered with members of my own party from Congress, my administration, and hardworking, yet ill-informed volunteers from every part of the country to sign comprehensive wealth redistribution under the guise of health care reform into law. Thanks to the immeasurable efforts of so many, the special deals, the threats, the bribes, and the kickbacks, the dream of reform is now a reality.

The bill I just signed puts Americans in charge of our own health care right behind governmental control by enacting three key changes:

It establishes the toughest patient protections from insurance companies in history, and makes them a victim of the government instead.

It guarantees all Americans the demise of affordable health insurance options, extending even more substandard coverage to 32 million who are currently uninsured.

And it reduces the cost of care to the patient on an individual basis, while generating massive tax increases for everyone else – cutting over 1 trillion dollars from the federal deficit over the next two decades.

We will use our tools of incrementalism to ensure a successful, stable transition. Since the bill really isn’t about health care, many of these changes will phase into full effect over the next several years.

But for millions of Americans, many of the benefits of reform will begin this year — some even taking effect this afternoon. Here are just a few examples:

The small businesses who have survived my economic policies so far will receive significant tax cuts, this year, to help them afford health coverage for all their employees.

Seniors will receive a rebate to reduce drug costs not yet covered under Medicare. It’s the least we can do now, as seniors will be the hardest hit class by this legislation.

Young people will be allowed to continue to avoid taking responsibility for their own lives by gaining coverage under their parents’ plan until the age of 26.

For a short time until the funds run out, early retirees will receive help to reduce premium costs.

Even though it didn’t get written into the original bill, children will be protected against discrimination on the basis of medical history.

Uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions can join a special high-risk pool that has no real operating instructions to get the coverage they need, starting in just 90 days.

Insured Americans will be protected from seeing their insurance revoked when they get sick, or facing restrictive annual limits on the care they receive. New limits will be placed by the government instead.

All Americans will benefit from significant new investments to train primary care doctors, nurses, and public health professionals, as the existing ones are bolting from the profession as a result of this law. The creation of state-level consumer assistance programs to help all patients understand and defend our new rights will make things just that much worse.

As I’ve said many times, and as I know to be true, this astounding victory could not have been achieved without your tireless efforts. Wheeling and dealing with members of my own party was the key to getting this monster through.

So as we celebrate this great day, I want to invite you to add your name where it belongs: alongside mine as a co-signer of this historic legislation. Organizing for America will record the names of co-signers as a permanent commemoration of those who came together to make this moment possible — all of you who refused to give up until the dream of many generations for government control and wealth redistribution disguised as affordable, quality care for all Americans was finally fulfilled.

So, if you haven’t yet, please add your name as a proud health care reform co-signer today:

http://my.barackobama.com/cosigner

Please accept my thanks for your voice, for your courage, and for your indispensable partnership in the great work of creating change.

History, and I, are in your debt.

President Barack Obama

Less than 30 minutes ago, 219 members of the U.S. House of Representatives set aside the will of the people. They put into motion the lighting of a match which will blaze a trail across this great nation of ours one which was never, ever meant to have been burnt.

They sold their souls to their party and its charismatic leader’s continued endeavor to build a monument to himself.

They sold the Constitution for a deal.

It won’t be the Tell Tale Heart beating under the floorboards that ultimately manifests the so desperately needed epiphany that these so-called elected representatives require to fully understand what they’ve done to this country tonight.

No.

Instead, it will be the strong smell of brewing tea laying assault to their olfactory nerves which will help them understand just what exactly they have done, and what uncertain future they face.

There are those that say this legislation cannot be turned around once it’s in place.

I say it can.

Looking back on the last 1,143 days of the Obama / Reid / Pelosi error, I think that it’s not only a safe assumption but a glaring reminder to a lot of us that there is entirely too much suffrage in this country today. Frankly, it just shouldn’t have to be that way. There are plenty of our citizenry out there today who just don’t have to do it, or really just shouldn’t.

For quite some time, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve found myself lying prostate in grief over the direction in which this great nation of ours is heading. I’m not alone in this belief either. To see the tide which has turned against the Democrats in recent state elections, it’s pretty obvious that there is dysentery among the masses. Incumbents who have been firmly ensconced in their seats for years on end suddenly find themselves on the odorous fast track to the private sector after this fall’s mid-term elections. All of which has been for toting the party line which seeks to exponentially explode the level of control which government has over our lives.

It doesn’t really take a eunuch programmer to understand the effect of the policies and initiatives which have been put forward by the legislative and executive branches of our government in recent years. The debate over universal healthcare rages on as traps continue to be laid for the Republicans, and measures of reconciliation remain afloat in order to make it law. Legislation remains on the table to govern the way we go about living our lives, all in the name of saving the environment and preventing man caused climate change. The goals are there, even though the science which has backed up the claims for years has been proven and exposed to be the junk that several of us on terracotta have been calling it for years. Private companies have been nationalized. The populist demonization of big business has had a ripple effect on the many arms of the economy in which those very corporations have an impact. All of a sudden it’s now considered politically incorrect for one to rise above their station and endeavor to make a profit.

Even still, the ironing of it all remains supreme. The self anointed messiahs who continue to tell us that we’re killing our planet off fly all over the world on their private jets to spread their poisoned message, only to return to their own estates to generate a considerably larger carbon foot print than the ones they suggest to us. In turn, when called on their hypocrisy, they buy so-called carbon-offsets through companies in which the have a substantially vested interest.

Naturally, that’s not all. Proponents of universal healthcare want no part of it for their own personal lives. Language in the bills at hand exempts them from such abusive treatment. For that matter, they could take steps right now with the proceeds from TARP or the 2009 Porkulus to insure the Americans who remain uninsured today. Yet still, such a suggestion has fallen on deaf ears in favor of a more intrusive package for all of America instead of a small sector of it.

Mind you, this isn’t some half baked scheme I dreamed up here in front of the monitor in an effort get more of my verbal brilliance put out there on the web. I’ve been mowing this matter over for years in an effort to come up with a full proof method to end the suffrage of the uninformed. Those who run for office and lie through their teeth in order to win elections only share a portion of the blame for the way things are going. The contributory negligence resides with those in the electorate who drink the sweetened Kool Aid and put these idiots in power. That being said, we need to find a way in which we can insure that those who cast a vote for an elected official actually know what they’re voting for.

Naturally, there are those who would incinerate that such a goal is elitist, or even racist. It’s far from it. I’m not looking to exclude anyone from the right to vote based on socioeconomic class, their creed, or even their race. For all tents and porpoises, what I do want to see are living American citizens who have a suppository of knowledge about those who represent them in government. Voters should at the very least know the names, faces, and agenda of those they vote for. That means every Senator and Congressman, as well as the current President and Vice President. I want them to be able to name off some of the Justices on the Supreme Court. I want to see them name the Governor of their state. Is that asking too much? I don’t think so.

Up until now, the suffrage of the ill and uninformed has contributed to the demise of posterity in this country. Rust assured, a mechanism which would insure that the electorate knows who it’s voting for would lend gravidas to our system of running things, and would subsequently make the process of voting less mute than it’s become.

In just about 13 hours and 40 minutes, Barack Hussein Obama will celebrate the completion of his first year in office. In that time, he has appeared on late night talk shows, nailed the NCAA Final Four, guzzled a cold one for the sake of race relations, and even threw out the first pitch at this last year’s All Star Game. Granted, that last achievement fell short of crossing the plate.

Speaking of which, it would appear that the results of today’s special election in the state of Massachusetts will be the crowning achievement of the perpetual ability of the Creepy Cult of Personality to come up just short of pushing through the radical agenda which keeps his pyloric valve in a euphoric state of nirvana. I can only guess that the speech writers in the White House who are now faced with some nasty revisions and wordsmithing of the upcoming State of the Union address are looking as bleary eyed and stupid as the pit bull I had spayed today.

Naturally, there’s already talk of the Senate refusing to certify Senator-elect Scott Brown and his truck in time for the vote of all votes on universal healthcare. The problem for the DNC is that the law is the law. Since Scott Brown has been qualified and elected to serve, Paul Kirk, the appointed replacement for Ted Kennedy is no longer legally qualified to serve as a Senator to the state of Massachusetts. At this point, I’m sure the leadership in the Senate will come up with some underhanded dirty trick which steps outside of the tradition, rules, and limits of the law to deny the state of Massachusetts its complete vote when it comes time to hijack the freedom of the American people.

Whereas I could go on ad nauseam (all Latin gets italicized here at TharpSter.Org) about the evils of universal healthcare, I’m going to decline at this point. I’ve already done my share of it, and any frequent visitor to my little corner of the worldwide web should be well aware of my feelings about the subject. Instead, I’m keeping my self-touted tirades to a minimum this evening, and will call attention to one, painful, inconvenient truth. After all, identifying irony is one of my super powers.

For close to fifty years, the senior Senator from Massachusetts championed the most liberal of causes. Socialized medicine was one of his biggest ones. With the passing of Ted Kennedy and the rally call on the part of the Democrats in Congress to go win one for their own version of the Gipper, the Senate has now lost its ability to ram through the legislation which the American people obviously did not want. Even more damaging to the Kennedy legacy to put government run health care in place is the fact that agents in his own party are wholly responsible for its demise. Rest in peace, Ted Kennedy.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV – D) called into question this morning whether conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh actually had a coronary episode while vacationing in Hawaii last month. With public support for a government run healthcare package rapidly declining, Reid suggested the chest pains Limbaugh experienced were nothing but a publicity stunt to derail the passage of a universal healthcare bill.

The basis of such a suggestion comes from the fact that Limbaugh did not have a heart attack or any other signs of heart disease. The premise of the story suggests that Limbaugh faked his chest pain so as to call attention to his ability to obtain quality healthcare without the involvement of a government run plan.

The accusation comes at the heals of the most recent publicity issue for Reid, namely when comments he made about Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign revealed what many consider to be racist remarks. In the upcoming book Game Change, Reid is quoted to have described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Republicans have been quick to cry foul over the remarks, and have demanded the Majority Leader step down. Reid has no intention of doing so, and offered an immediate apology to the President for his “poor choice of words”. The apology was then followed up by a list of the black people that Reid knows and gets along with. President Obama immediately accepted Reid’s apology.

Reid’s accusation is not the first time he has used his position as Senate Majority Leader to attack the talk show host. In 2007, Reid took time to discuss comments made by Rush Limbaugh about “phony soldiers” on the Senate floor. Reid subsequently drafted a letter addressed to Limbaugh’s syndicator which requested repudiation of the remarks. In the letter, Reid suggested that Limbaugh referred to soldiers who have come out against the war in Iraq as “phony”. The letter was signed by 41 senators, including then-senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Limbaugh had actually used the term “phony soldiers” in reference to Jesse MacBeth, a man who falsely claimed to be a decorated war hero and an opponent of the Iraqi War. Limbaugh subsequently auctioned the letter from the Nevada senator on eBay for just over $2.1 million. He subsequently matched that sum and gave the entire proceeds to charity.

In the newest attack on one of his most outspoken critics, sources in Reid’s office speaking on the condition of anonymity revealed the senator’s intention to summon the healthcare professionals who attended to Limbaugh when he was admitted to the hospital with chest pains last month. Reid’s hope would be that such testimony would reveal the event to have been made up so as to fuel the fire for opponents of the universal healthcare legislation. The Senate will be hard pressed to compel such testimony though, as laws surrounding doctor and patient relationships keep the details of Limbaugh’s care private.

Repeated calls to Rush Limbaugh’s office for comment on Reid’s accusation have gone unanswered.
